GAYLYNN'S RECOMMENDED READING LIST
I love to read! I never go into a book store without
buying something.
The following list is not what the bridal salon owner
suggests, instead it is what I suggest as the mother
of two brides and one groom, the aunt of four brides,
the sister of one and a bride myself for 34 years. This
is my personal list.
My selections have been divided into categories to make
it easier. Of course, brides may find all of them helpful
and entertaining. It is my sincere hope that you will
find something which will be perfect for you.
Happy reading!

for the bride
The best advice I have for brides is to stay focused
on what is most important: you're in LOVE and preparing
to make a life-long commitment to another person. Set
aside time each day for romance and inspiration. After
that, get organized. Good organization is important
for the success of any event.
Finally, have some fun!

can be a great help. I recommend any book by the

for the Moms
I've been "the mom" three times. This can
be a wonderful time but beware, the potential for strife
is also there. Keep in mind that your daughter or son
is very nervous and unsure how to do all that is required.
Deciding on a budget in advance of any shopping can
alleviate some of the stress.
Most important: keep your sense of humor and remember
"no one upstages the bride!"

Emily Post's
Wedding Planner for Moms
by Peggy Post
When Peggy Post (Emily's great granddaughter
in law) was in our salon in December 2006, we
discussed the need for this type of planner. I
told her I would write one someday. I'm sure she
did a much better job than I would have. A must
for "first-time" MOBs and MOGs. Wish
I had had one! |

for the Bridesmaids and Groomsmen
It is an honor to be part of a wedding. It can also
be expensive and time consuming. Out of your love for
the bride and groom, please be honest when you accept
the position. It is alright to decline and ask for another
way that you can be involved.
If you have accepted, Great! You will have a lot of
fun and make many memories.

Couples are very divided about having children at their
weddings. Some can't imagine a wedding without children
and others can't imagine one with them.

small toys or coloring books and crayons at the reception
as well. It's best to keep them busy.

for your future together
CONGRATULATIONS!
You're married and beginning your life together. As
a bride of 34 wonderful years of married life, I have
a few suggestions:
Wives, always put your husband's best interest first.
Husbands, always put your wife's best interest first.
This usually keeps things balanced. Take good care of
yourselves and each other. Be careful about your health,
watch your finances and nurture your faith. Have babies
and be happy!
